The IASO General Clinic 1st Gastroenterology Department of Interventional Endoscopy was set up with the aim to offer comprehensive and advanced medical services for all diseases of the digestive tract, with a deep sense of respect for people at all times.
It is staffed with fully trained gastroenterologists, qualified in therapeutic endoscopy in large centers in Greece and abroad, who carry out all endoscopic and interventional procedures of the digestive tract. They have long experience
in the treatment of demanding gastrointestinal cases, including medical emergencies, as well as in the diagnosis, follow-up and treatment of all digestive tract diseases, such as:
Idiopathic inflammatory bowel diseases
Diseases of the upper and lower digestive tract
Function disorders of the digestive tract
Liver and bile duct diseases
The modern IASO General Clinic Endoscopy Unit was established, equipped and staffed from scratch, in line with the latest standards. The use of the latest ELUXEO systems by FUJIFILM, which integrate innovative and groundbreaking technologies, contributes
significantly to the advancement and practical application of the doctors’ skills. High-resolution imaging, magnifying electronic chromoendoscopy using Linked Color Imaging (LCI) and Blue Light Imaging (BLI), and the new state-of-the-art CAD-EYE Artificial
Intelligence endoscopy software, which assists in identifying and classifying microscopic large bowel polyps, make up the most modern and integrated endoscopic imaging system. This system is now available at the IASO Endoscopy Unit, assisting in optimizing
the quality of gastrointestinal endoscopy.
The invasive endoscopic procedures performed by the Unit doctors are based on the latest endoscopic techniques and include:
Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangio-Pancreatography (ΕRCP): Sphincterotomy, stone removal and mechanical bile duct lithotripsy, dilation of bile duct stenosis with bougie or balloon catheter, stent placement for the treatment of benign or malignant biliary
stenoses, as well as cytology brushing of malignant biliary stenoses.
Diagnostic and Interventional Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS): Diagnosis, study and staging of malignancies and submucosal lesions of the upper digestive tract, FNA from submucosal tumors of the upper digestive tract and liver, pancreatic and biliary
tumors from masses or lymph nodes of the mediastrinum and abdominal area, as well as drainage of pseudocysts and other pancreatic cystic lesions, and neurolysis of the abdominal mesh to treat chronic pain in patients with malignant tumors of the
pancreatic and biliary system.
Transanal Ultrasound for diagnosing anal conditions, such as fistulas and perianal abscesses, as well as staging the tumors of the anorectal area.
Endoscopic Polypectomy of stomach and large intestine polyps
Endoscopic hemostasis of gastrointestinal hemorrhaging with adrenaline infusion and endoclip placement, and use of Argon Plasma Coagulation (APC).
Endoscopic gastrostomy placement (PEG)
Photocoagulation with Argon Plasma for treatment of vascular dysplasia, post-radiation colitis and bleeding tumors of the digestive tract, as well as anorectal condylomas.
Dilation of benign and malignant esophageal stenoses
Endoscopic removal of foreign objects from the esophagus
Ligation of esophageal varices by placing elastic bands (banding)
Endoscopic stent placement in the esophagus, duodenum and large bowel.
Endoscopic treatment of esophageal achalasia with botulinum toxin infusion (botox) in elderly patients or balloon dilation.
Endoscopic obesity treatment using intragastric balloon placement or intragastric botox infusion.
Endoscopic small-intestine assessment with wireless capsule
Application of the ΗΑLO technique for the treatment of dysplasia in patients with Barrett’s esophagus.
