IASO General Clinic: International Training and Demonstration Center for the most advanced technique for treating Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia

MiLEP: A New Era in Laser treatment – safe, precise, with minimal burden for the patient
IASO General Clinic is now one of the four officially recognized International Demonstration and Training Centers in Europe, and the only one in Greece, for the use of the innovative MultiPulse HoPLUS 150-watt Laser system for the treatment of Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH). This recognition was awarded by the internationally renowned company Jena Surgical GmbH, as a result of the multiannual experience, medical excellence, and technological innovation of the 4th Urology Clinic of IASO General Clinic, under the direction of Mr. Nikolaos Bafaloukas.
The MiLEP Innovation
The MiLEP method (Minimally invasive Laser Enucleation of the Prostate) is an evolution of the HoLEP procedure and has been globally adopted as the recommended method for treating benign prostatic hyperplasia. By using a special, 30% thinner endoscope, it ensures:
- Even greater precision in targeting the tissue
- Reduced urethral trauma
- Faster recovery and more comfort through the use of a thinner urinary catheter
MiLEP combines the power of the 150-watt Holmium Laser with the innovation of a miniaturized approach, offering patients a bloodless, definitive, and minimally invasive solution with minimal hospitalization and a rapid return to daily life.
HoLEP, Established as the “Gold Standard”
HoLEP, a method involving complete Holmium Laser enucleation of the adenoma, is currently regarded as the best surgical option available for BPH, offering advantages such as:
- Safety, even for patients on anticoagulants
- Permanent results with no residual tissue
- Application to glands of all sizes, even those over 300cc
- Only a one-day hospital stay
- Full recovery within 7 days
Since 2018, the team of the 4th Urology Clinic of IASO General Clinic has performed the HoLEP surgery on more than 2,000 patients, delivering excellent results and building well-established expertise.
Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia affects a significant number of men over the age of 50, impacting urination and quality of life. Although it is not malignant, it often requires surgical intervention in order to restore the normal function of the urinary system.
This innovation, applied at IASO General Clinic, combines modern technology with scientific expertise, establishing the Hospital as a reference standard in the field of Minimally Invasive Urology, both in Greece and Europe.
