IASO Children’s Hospital: 1st Further Education and Training Seminar on the topic "Esophageal atresia from the embryonic stage to adolescence. Diagnosis – Treatment – Long-term Monitoring", having internationally acclaimed Professors as speakers

The 1st Further Education and Training Seminar of IASO Children’s Hospital on the topic “Esophageal atresia from the embryonic stage to adolescence. Diagnosis – Treatment – Long-term Monitoring", will take place on Saturday, May 7th 2022, at 09:00 a.m., at the IASO Events Hall. The aim of the Seminar is the continuous medical training and briefing of the Doctors - Associates and Health Professionals, in regard to current issues concerning the fields of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Pediatric Surgery.

The Seminar is realized under the aegis of the Hellenic Society of Perinatal Medicine, the Greek Association of Pediatric Surgeons, the Hellenic Neonatal Society, and the Hellenic Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition. It is addressed to Neonatologists, Pediatric Surgeons, Pediatricians, Pediatric Pulmonologists – Pediatric Allergists, Pediatric Gastroenterologists, ENT Surgeons, Pediatric Urologists, Clinical Geneticists, Obstetricians – Gynecologists, as well as to all Health Professionals.

The following topics which will be discussed during the Seminar:

  • Esophageal Atresia / The role of genetics
  • Esophageal Atresia / Prenatal diagnosis
  • Surgical Treatment of Esophageal Atresia
  • Minimal Invasive Surgery of Esophageal Atresia and the possible Role of Regenerative Medicine Therapies      
  • ESPGHAN - NASPGHAN Guidelines for the evaluation and treatment of the post-operative gastrointestinal complications of Esophageal Atresia with / without tracheoesophageal fistula
  • Esophageal Atresia / Comorbidities: Α) Respiratory disorders, Β) Laryngeal Clefts
  • Esophageal Atresia: Α) Long-term outcome, Β) Associated dysphagia and eosinophilic esophagitis implication

The invited speakers will be the internationally acclaimed foreign Professors, Mr. Frédéric Gottrand, MSc, PhD, Paediatrician, Head of the Research Department and Research Vice President of the Board of Directors of Lille University Hospital, Professor of Paediatrics at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Lille, Paris and Mr. Paolo De Coppi, MD, PhD, FMedSci, NIHR, Professor of Paediatric Surgery, Nuffield Professor of Paediatric Surgery, Head of Surgery Unit, Stem Cells & Regenerative Medicine Section, Developmental Biology & Cancer Programme, Consultant Paediatric Surgeon, Great Ormond Street Hospital, London, who will present all the important developments concerning Esophageal Atresia, from its diagnosis to its treatment.
