The World Hearing Day (March 3rd) is an opportunity to inform both parents and patients with hearing impairment about the causes of hearing loss, as well as the various ways to deal with it. Within this context, the ENT Department of IASO General Clinic, the Pediatric Audiology Department and the ENT Department of IASO Children’s Hospital offer free hearing tests and specifically:
IASO General Clinic:
The ENT Department offers a free hearing test to the first 20 people who will call on Thursday 3rd and Friday 4th March 2022 to make an appointment at the Outpatient Clinic, at these phone numbers: 210 6383090-1, from 09:00 until 15:00.
The social implications of hearing loss are significant, as it constitutes the main cause of depression globally for the elderly. The treatment of hearing loss differs depending on the cause, with the appropriate application of hearing aids or with surgery, depending on the clinical and laboratory evaluation made by the ENT doctor.
IASO Children’s Hospital:
The Pediatric Audiology Department and the ENT Department offer a free pediatric ENT examination to those who call on Thursday 3rd and Friday 4th March 2022, at these phone numbers: 210 6383070-72 from 07:00 until 10:00 to express their interest.
Hearing impairments can occur to children from their birth (approximately 2-3 children in a thousand). The sooner the hearing loss of a newborn is diagnosed and treated, the more likely it is that there will be no delay in the child's development and speech. Deafness and hearing loss in general in these newborns and children can be treated nowadays.
Hearing impairments are very common and occur to people of all ages. Early diagnosis is crucial for the treatment and management of hearing disorders. Deafness is now a thing of the past, as hearing is completely restored in both deaf adults and children and thus helping the proper development of speech.
