The Head of the Neurourology & Functional Urology Department of FILOKTITIS, Mr. Diamantis Floratos, FEBU, PhD, has received a significant distinction within the medical community. He was recommended for and unanimously elected Chairman of the Coordinating Committee of the Urodynamic Neurourology & Gynecologic Urology Department at the Hellenic Urological Association, during the 1st Interdisciplinary Conference of the Hellenic Urological Association in Kalamata.

The Scientific Council of FILOKTITIS and its Chairman, Mr. Georgios Vissarakis, Special Rehabilitation Physician and Scientific Director of the Center, congratulated Mr. D. Floratos on his election and wished him all the best in his career.

Dr. D. Floratos and his team at the FILOKTITIS Neurourology & Functional Urology Department perform urodynamic testing at the Outpatient Clinic of the Center. It is the ultimate test for examining the function of the lower urinary tract, meaning the urinary bladder and urethral sphincter. The test aims to identify the exact causes of urinary symptoms in patients.

A comprehensive urodynamic test is recommended for patients with:

• traumatic spinal cord injuries
• multiple sclerosis
• cerebral vascular accidents (stroke)
• Parkinson’s disease
• patients over 50 who do not respond to pharmaceutical treatment
• women with incontinence prior to surgery
• patients (male) with lower urinary tract symptoms, diabetes mellitus and large urine residue
