The Department of Pediatric Cardiac Surgery at IASO Children’s Hospital and Athens Heart Surgery Institute, under the direction of the world-renowned Pediatric Cardiac Surgeon, Dr. Giorgos Sarris, holder of multiple scientific distinctions and titles (Harvard MD, PhD, FACC, FACS, FAHA, FCTS, FETCS), is the only Pediatric Cardiac Surgery Center in Greece certified according to the European Congenital Heart Surgeons Association (ECHSA) Congenital Database, and numbers amongst the few certified Pediatric Cardiac Surgery Centers throughout Europe. Following the recertification process, the European Congenital Heart Surgeons Association conferred upon Dr. G. Sarris the European Congenital Heart Surgeons Association [ECHSA] Congenital Database Certification for his surgical results.

Dr. Sarris, Chief of the Department of Pediatric Cardiac Surgery at IASO Children’s Hospital and Chief of Athens Heart Surgery Institute, in cooperation with Mr. Chrysanthos Alexopoulos, Pediatric Cardiac Anesthesiologist, Chief of the Pediatric Cardiac Surgery ICU, and Mr. Georgios Tsaousis, Chief of the Department of Pediatric Cardiology, assisted by highly experienced associate physicians and well-trained nursing staff, has been long applying a strict quality assurance program on all pediatric cardiac surgeries, aiming at the safest and most efficient treatment of children suffering from heart problems. In addition, Dr. Sarris voluntarily submits the results of his surgeries for inspection and evaluation by competent independent reviewers of the European Congenital Heart Surgeons Association, in order to assure the quality of the surgeries and the accuracy of the statistical results. The aforementioned practice is a standard voluntary procedure for Dr. Sarris, and it certifies and confirms his acknowledgement by the international scientific community for the high-level pediatric cardiac surgeries he performs.
