A successful Study Day on Juvenile Diabetes at IASO General Cholargos, 03/03/2015
The successful event of the Informative and Educational Study Day “I learn about Juvenile Diabetes (insulin-dependent diabetes, type 1)” was held at IASO General on Saturday 7 February 2015. The educational study day is the first of a series of educational actions organized by IASO General’s Diabetes Center and “Diabetes Card”.
Instructors, physicians and the general public, positively responded to the invitation given that diabetes, due to its increasing prevalence, is a disease that more or less affects everyone.
Mr. Antonios Lepouras, Internist-Diabetes Specialist, Chief of the Internal Medicine-Diabetes Clinic & Diabetes Center at IASO General and Ms Christina Vlachopoulou, Psychotherapist, Counseling Psychologist, informed the participants on juvenile diabetes and its complications management, on emergency complications management in the classrooms and on the psychological support of insulin-dependent diabetes young patients.
Next, specialist staff performed blood glucose tests and advocated on the injections technique and the right use of glucose monitoring devices.
IASO General’s Diabetes Center places great emphasis on the appropriate information and training not only of the diabetic patient so that s/he becomes the clinician of his/herself, but also of his/her family in order to psychologically support the patient and be of assistance in practice.
