Robotic Surgery and Laser Technology: IASO Thessalias Presented the Future of Urology in Trikala

IASO Thessalias successfully hosted the scientific event "Innovative Treatments in Urology – Robotic Surgery and Laser Technology at IASO Thessalias" in Trikala, under the auspices of the Trikala Medical Association. The event attracted significant public interest and highlighted the latest advances in modern urological care.

Held at the Papasteriadi Building in Trikala, the event formed part of IASO Thessalias’ ongoing commitment to bringing medical innovation and scientific knowledge closer to local communities across Central Greece.

The scientific program was presented by the physicians of the First Urology Clinic of IASO Thessalias: Nikolaos Kolitsas, MD, Consultant Urologist, Dimitrios Karagiannis, MD, Deputy Director, and Konstantinos Skriapas, MD, Director of the Clinic.

Dr. Kolitsas discussed prostate cancer, emphasizing the importance of prevention and early diagnosis. He presented modern diagnostic tools, including multiparametric MRI and targeted fusion biopsy, highlighting that early detection significantly improves treatment outcomes.

Dr. Karagiannis focused on the latest developments in the treatment of urinary stone disease, presenting minimally invasive techniques that allow effective management with faster recovery and reduced patient burden.

Dr. Skriapas presented contemporary laser applications in urology, particularly in the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia, demonstrating the advantages of modern laser technologies, including shorter hospitalization and faster return to everyday activities.

Particular interest was generated by the presentation of the Da Vinci robotic surgical system, which is utilized at IASO Thessalias for the treatment of complex urological conditions. Robotic surgery offers enhanced precision, superior surgical control and significant benefits for patients.

The event concluded with an interactive discussion and questions from attendees, confirming the growing public interest in advanced medical technologies and modern treatment options available in Central Greece.
