IASO Maternity-Gynecology Clinic: Interactive talk on patient resilience and life after breast cancer
IASO’s 2nd Breast Clinic is organizing an interactive talk on Saturday, May 23rd, 2026, at 18:00, at the IASO Hospital’s Event Hall, entitled “Sources of Flourishing & Empowerment”, having Ms. Dionysia Giannopoulou, psychotherapist, author, and former patient of the clinic, as the keynote speaker.
The event focuses on the experience of having breast cancer and how to deal with it, highlighting it through the speaker’s dual perspective, both as a former patient and as a mental health professional with scientific and therapeutic expertise.
Through an open and interactive discussion with the audience, topics to be discussed include:
- illness as a journey of self-discovery,
- difficulties as opportunities for change,
- the stages of illness,
- care and management and coping methods,
- prevention and treatment,
- the importance of boundaries,
- the healing power of forgiveness, as well as
- life after illness.
At the same time, Ms. Giannopoulou’s book “Blooming”, published by Key Books, will be presented. This book constitutes a personal and deeply human account of her experience.
The event is addressed to former and current patients, caregivers, healthcare professionals and paramedical personnel, as well as anyone who wishes to get informed, empowered and gain valuable tools for coping and personal growth.
