IASO General Clinic is organizing a One-Day Conference on the topic “New insights in vaccination”, which will be held on Saturday, October 14, 2023, at 09:30 a.m., at IASO Hospital’s Event Hall (37-39 Kifissias Ave., Maroussi).

Over the centuries, vaccination has proven its important contribution to the prevention of infectious diseases. The disappearance of smallpox and poliomyelitis, mainly in developed countries, are some characteristic examples. Their latest achievement is the decrease of cervical cancer, following the universal use of the HPV vaccine.

The purpose of the one-day conference is to present the latest vaccines to population groups such as children, adults, pregnant and lactating women, people with neoplastic diseases and those who are immunosuppressed in general. At the same time, the financial benefits in preventive medicine and which derive from the universal use of vaccines will be presented. The conference is addressed not only to doctors of the specialties mentioned above, but also to all personnel providing public health care.

Specially selected and distinguished scientists, such as Mr. Kostantinos Athanasakis, Mr. Panagiotis Gargalianos - Kakolyris, Dimitra Kavvatha, Theodota Liakopoulou - Tsitsipi, Evripidis Bilirakis, Christos Papadimitriou, Michael Samarkos, Maria Chini, will participate in the conference by giving speeches.

Within the context of the opening ceremony, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of IASO Group, Mr. Georgios Stamatiou, will award an honor plaque to Ms. Maria Theodoridou, Professor Emeritus of Pediatrics at the University of Athens and President of the Vaccination Committee, for her significant contribution to the field of Pediatric Infectious Disease and the promotion of Public Health.

Alternate Minister of Health, Ms. Eirini Agapidaki, will give the conference’s welcome speech and Mr. Christos Hadjichristodoulou, President of the National Public Health Organization (NPHO), will provide an analysis of the conclusions.

Mr. Marios K. Lazanas, Internist - Infectious Disease Specialist, Director of the Internal Medicine - Infectious Disease Clinic of IASO General Clinic and Chairman of IASO Group’s Infection Control Committee, will serve as the conference’s moderator.
