    In 2020 the Public Health Laboratories were appointed by the Ministry of Health as National Reference Laboratory for COVID-19

    • Award of the Athens Academy of Science in 1996 to Dr Mentis for his contribution to Clinical Microbiology in Greece, for the period 1991-1995
    • The 2020 special prize of the Hellenic Institute of Customer Service was awarded to the Diagnostic Services Laboratory and the Public Health Laboratories of the HPI for their contribution against the COVID-19 pandemic
