A Pulmonology Department has been developed at IASO Thessalias, which is part of the internal medicine sector. 

The Pulmonology Department has: 

A respiratory function laboratory, the equipment of which enables the investigation and clinical evaluation of:

  • Obstructive lung diseases
  • Restrictive lung diseases

For the investigation of the above conditions, it is possible to measure dynamic (FEV1, FVC, FEF 25%-75%) and static (TLC, RV, FRC) lung volumes. 

Bronchoscopy laboratory, which provides the possibility of bronchoscopy and obtaining:

  • endobronchial biopsies
  • transbronchial biopsies
  • bronchial washing
  • broncial brushing
  • Bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL)

Pulmonology outpatient department, which provides:

  • Clinical monitoring of patients with chronic respiratory diseases
  • Intrahospital support
