The operations of the Gastroenterology Department of the Clinic cover the widest range of modern Gastroenterology and Interventional Endoscopy. More specifically, the individual operations - departments are:

  • Gastroenterology treatment office.
  • Endoscopic laboratory: diagnostic and interventional endoscopies of the upper and lower gastrointestinal (GI) tract.
  • ERCP.

Endoscopy Department

Diagnostic upper GI endoscopies (gastroscopies and duodenoscopies).

Diagnostic endoscopies of the lower gastrointestinal tract (colonoscopies and rectosigmoidoscopies). Interventional endoscopies of the upper and lower gastrointestinal tract:

  • Esophagus - stomach – intestine stricture dilation either with bougie dilators or with balloons.
  • Stent placement for strictures of the esophagus - duodenum- large intestine. In addition, urgent stent placement for ileus of the large intestine (pre-operatively as a bridge to surgery: reduction of morbidity - reduction hospital stay - enterectomy and termino-terminal anastomosis in one year).
  • Endoscopic treatment of esophageal achalasia.
  • Removal of foreign bodies from the upper and lower gastrointestinal tract.
  • Esophageal variceal ligation (banding): chronic and preventive treatment.
  • Mucosectomy of early neoplasms and precancerous conditions.
  • Polypectomies of the upper and lower gastrointestinal tract.


ERCP

  • Diagnostic and Magnetic Resonance Cholangiopancreatography (MRCP).
  • Interventional ERCP (sphincterotomy- stone removal – lithotripsy -placement of self-expandable plastic and metallic stents – placement of drainage tubes).
