Medical Oncology Department

In the Medical Oncology Unit of IASO Thessalias, the most modern and internationally accepted diagnostic and therapeutic methods are applied to treat all forms of neoplasms (oncological and hematological). All treatments are adapted to the particularities and special needs of each patient. The following types of treatment are performed:   

• Targeted therapy
• Chemotherapy
• Immunotherapy
•  Hormone therapy 

In addition to the administration of treatments, blood transfusions and its derivatives, other short-term intravenous treatments are offered for supportive care, or for the pain management (it has a specialized pain treatment office), as well as the possibility of palliative procedures (drainage of fluid collections).

It meets the patients’ needs for treatments through a brief stay in a comfortable and friendly environment. It is equipped with a vertical laminar airflow machine for the preparation of cytostatics.

It is collaborating with renowned Medical Oncologists who have scientific training and extensive experience in treating oncological conditions. Their systematic training and participation in international conferences ensures that they are informed in regard to the latest scientific data and the application of modern therapeutic protocols. They collaborate directly with all the medical specialties of IASO Thessalias, for the holistic treatment of even the most demanding oncological cases. The nursing staff is highly trained and specialized in the care of oncologic patients and know their special needs.

It is in direct collaboration with the diagnostic and laboratory departments (central laboratories, medical imaging, pathology and cytology laboratory, nuclear medicine) as well as with the radiotherapy department of the Clinic.
