Physical growth and development in children and adolescents are important indicators of health. Systematic assessment can contribute to the early identification of growth disorders and endocrine conditions. 

Conditions evaluated and treated include: 

  • diabetes mellitus in children and adolescents 
  • growth and height disorders 
  • body weight disorders 
  • puberty disorders, including precocious or delayed puberty 
  • premature adrenarche 
  • pediatric endocrine and genetic disorders 
  • changes in physical growth requiring further investigation 
  • thyroid disorders. 

Depending on the findings of the clinical assessment and the child’s growth rate, further laboratory testing, follow-up or appropriate treatment may be recommended.
