Da Vinci robotic surgery for liver, biliary, pancreatic and upper gastrointestinal procedures

The use of the Da Vinci robotic surgical system continues to expand at IASO Thessalias, enhancing the hospital’s ability to manage complex and demanding surgical conditions through advanced minimally invasive techniques.

Robotic procedures are performed by Alexandros Diamantis, General Surgeon and Director of the Department of Liver, Biliary, Pancreatic and Upper Gastrointestinal Surgery, in collaboration with General Surgeon Andreas Diamantis. Leveraging extensive experience in robotic surgery, the team utilizes advanced robotic technology in highly specialized procedures that require exceptional precision and surgical control.

The Da Vinci system provides high-definition three-dimensional visualization and highly accurate instrument control, facilitating demanding procedures involving liver, pancreatic, gastric and intestinal tumors, adrenal gland surgery, as well as abdominal wall and hiatal hernia repair. The technology allows for enhanced visualization and improved precision throughout the procedure.

For patients, robotic surgery offers significant advantages, including reduced surgical trauma, limited blood loss and faster postoperative recovery. Procedures are performed within a fully organized hospital environment featuring modern operating theatres and comprehensive support services, ensuring the highest standards of safety and patient care.

The continued development of robotic surgery in highly specialized fields of General Surgery further strengthens the role of IASO Thessalias as a leading healthcare center, providing patients in Central Greece with access to advanced surgical treatments close to home.
