Urology Department

The Urology department of IASO Thessalias is a modern, fully equipped department, covering a wide range of urology cases. Our experienced urology surgeons and cutting-edge technological equipment ensure that both endoscopy and conventional surgery is performed efficiently, with particular emphasis on minimally invasive surgery. Our basic specialty fields are:

  • Incontinence: For both male and female patients. Suburethral tape is used to treat female incontinence, while male incontinence is handled with the use of artificial urinary sphincters and tapes.
  • Neuro-Urology - Urodynamics: This field approaches, diagnostically and therapeutically, urinary conditions caused by neurological disorders, e.g. multiple sclerosis, spinal cord injuries etc. A proper urodynamic evaluation effectively increases the chances of receiving a precise diagnosis and successfully treating several disorders such as those mentioned above.
  • Urogynecology: Treatment of vesicovaginal and ureterovaginal fistulas, as well as cases of prolapse, like vesicocele or rectocele.
  • Benign prostatic hyperplasia: Thanks to the latest advances in TURP (transurethral resection of the prostate) technology, urologists can select the optimal intervention method for each patient. They can opt for the conventional open surgery, or the PLASMA method (transurethral endoscopy with the use of electrodes).
  • Urinary Lithiasis: This department can treat urinary stones without resorting to open surgery, using specific modern endo-urology applications. Endosomatic lithotripsy is performed to treat stones in the bladder and ureter.
  • Andrology: An individualised approach is adopted for each patient to effectively treat erectile dysfunction and infertility.
  • Urologic Oncology: Surgical treatment of cancer in the prostate, bladder, testicles and kidney, using state-of-the-art medical equipment.
