Urodynamic Testing

Diagnostic Department
Urodynamic Laboratory

At IASO Thessalias, urodynamic testing is performed using the Jive (MMT/Dantec) urodynamic system to investigate disorders affecting the function of the lower urinary tract.

Urodynamic studies provide information about bladder and urethral function during the filling and emptying phases, contributing to diagnosis and appropriate treatment planning based on clinical findings.

Indications for Urodynamic Testing

Urodynamic testing may be recommended following medical assessment in cases such as:

  • Nocturnal enuresis (bedwetting)
  • Urinary urgency
  • Urge urinary incontinence
  • Stress urinary incontinence
  • Mixed urinary incontinence
  • Obstructive urinary symptoms
  • Urinary incontinence or difficulty urinating following prostatectomy
  • Urinary disorders in patients with neurological conditions
  • Urinary retention in women
  • Urinary disorders following pelvic surgery
  • Urinary disorders associated with conditions such as diabetes mellitus and Parkinson's disease

Urodynamic Examinations

Depending on the patient's diagnostic needs, urodynamic testing may include:

  1. Uroflowmetry
  2. Cystometry
  3. Pressure-flow study
  4. Electromyography (EMG)

The examination is performed in a dedicated area, with consideration for patient comfort and privacy, and usually takes approximately one hour.
