Prevention and management of special infections in clinical practice
As part of the IASO Thessalias Scientific Lectures 2025–2026 programme, a scientific lecture was held focusing on the prevention, early recognition and management of special infections encountered in everyday clinical practice.
The lecture was presented by Antonia Vaiou, Internal Medicine Specialist and Consultant at the 2nd Internal Medicine Department of IASO Thessalias. She discussed modern approaches to infection prevention and treatment, emphasizing clinical vigilance and appropriate therapeutic decision-making.
Clinical case studies were presented to illustrate diagnostic and therapeutic challenges, while highlighting the importance of multidisciplinary collaboration in achieving optimal patient outcomes.
The discussion was moderated by Ioannis Bizakis, ENT Surgeon, Head and Neck Surgeon, Professor Emeritus of the University of Thessaly and Director of the 1st ENT Department of IASO Thessalias, who emphasized the critical role of prevention and continuous medical education in combating infectious diseases.
