GLP-1 medications are transforming the management of diabetes and obesity
As part of the IASO Thessalias Scientific Lectures 2025–2026 programme, a scientific lecture focused on the rapidly evolving role of GLP-1 medications in the treatment of type 2 diabetes and obesity.
The presentation was delivered by Evangelos Adamopoulos, Internal Medicine Specialist and Director of the 1st Internal Medicine Department of IASO Thessalias, who reviewed the latest scientific developments regarding GLP-1 receptor agonists and their growing impact on metabolic disease management.
The lecture explored the mechanism of action of these medications, including their effects on blood glucose regulation and appetite control. Recent clinical studies demonstrating significant weight loss and improvements in cardiometabolic health were also presented. In addition, participants were informed about currently available treatment options, patient selection criteria and key considerations for safe clinical use.
