NICU
The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) of IASO Thessalias in Larissa has been operating since the first day of operation of the Clinic. In the newborn unit, specialized, high-level health services are provided to premature newborns, as well as to newborns with other problems, born in the clinic.

Having the expertise of the IASO Group, the NICU of IASO Thessalias is one of the most modern neonatal units available in our country. It has a total capacity of 18 beds, has state-of-the-art equipment and is has the capability to monitor newborns constantly. There are three Hospitalization levels, simple, intermediate and intensive care, with a negative pressure isolation room, an area for the preparation of total parenteral nutrition, a dairy for the preparation of special types of milk, an area for breastfeeding, as well as a specially designed area for long-term monitoring (follow up) of those hospitalized in the neonatal department.

The Unit is fully equipped with cutting-edge equipment, with the capability to monitor, support and treat even the most difficult cases of full-term and extremely-low-birth-weight premature infants.

There is a specialized Neonatologist on duty at the NICU of IASO Thessalias 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The department's experienced neonatologists are supported by experienced nursing staff, with specifications that correspond numerically to international requirements.

Furthermore, the possibility of scientific coverage and treatment of both emergencies and planned screenings is provided, with competent, experienced and renowned scientists of other subspecialties (pediatric radiologist - sonographer, pediatric neurologist, pediatric ophthalmologist, pediatric surgeon, pediatric orthopedist, geneticist, etc.).

All newborns have the possibility of total parenteral nutrition, where necessary, as well as of systematic measurement of the levels of administered drugs. Moreover, we are sending messages of optimism and strong encouragement to mothers to preserve breast milk, via the Kangaroo method that we apply systematically.

The NICU of IASO Thessalias has state-of-the-art respiratory support machines (such as HFO, NO, SiPAP, nCPAP ventilators), monitors with central stations, pulse oximeters, pumps for parenteral fluid administration, syringe pumps for drug administration, blood derivative pumps as well as a state-of-the-art ultrasound machine.

The knowledge, experience, direct communication of the staff, scientific support and the immediate treatment of hospitalized newborns, as well as the briefing, encouragement and support of parents are the foundations that ensure the best outcome of hospitalized premature and ill newborns in the Neonatal Unit of IASO Thessalias Clinic.
