We would like to inform you that the Department of Clinical Therapeutics of the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA), in collaboration with the Hematology - Oncology Team of IASO General Clinic, are organizing a Two-Day Scientific Conference on the topic: “Gynecologic, Urologic and Breast Neoplasms: Therapeutic Dilemmas and the Latest Data from ESMO 2026”, on Friday, November 6^th and Saturday, November 7^th, 2026. The conference will be held at IASO Hospital’s Event Hall and aims to foster a fruitful scientific dialogue on the most current issues with regard to the management of patients afflicted with these types of malignancies.

The moderators of the conference are: Mr. Meletios – Athanasios Dimopoulos, Professor of Therapeutics – Oncology – Internal Medicine, NKUA, Director, Department of Clinical Therapeutics, “Alexandra” General Hospital of Athens; Ms. Maria Kaparelou, Medical Oncologist, Scientific Associate, Department of Clinical Therapeutics, NKUA , “Alexandra” General Hospital of Athens, Consultant, Hematology – Oncology Team, IASO General Clinic; Mr. Michalis Liontos, Medical Oncologist, Assistant Professor of Therapeutics – Oncology, NKUA, Department of Clinical Therapeutics, “Alexandra” General Hospital of Athens; and Ms. Magdalini Migkou, Medical Oncologist, Consultant, National Health System (ESY), Department of Clinical Therapeutics, NKUA, Consultant, Hematology – Oncology Team, IASO General Clinic.

In recent years, the therapeutic landscape in the treatment of neoplasms has changed dramatically, driven both by the identification of specific molecular subtypes of these diseases and by the introduction of novel therapeutic approaches, including immunotherapy and targeted therapies. These advances are reflected on a daily basis in clinical practice, contributing significantly to improved patient survival rates and quality of life. At the same time, the rapid pace of progress has brought new challenges, such as the selection of the most appropriate strategy for treating each patient, the need for effective genetic counseling, the strengthening of preventive interventions and the proper management of adverse events associated with these new pharmaceutical treatments.

Within this context, it is evident that data emerging from multicenter clinical trials play a pivotal role in guiding our therapeutic decisions. This two-day conference has been scheduled to take place a few days after the most significant oncology congress in   Europe, the European Society for Medical Oncology Congress (ESMO 2026), which will be held in Madrid, on 23-27 October 2026. During the conference, the most important and up-to-date data reported at ESMO 2026 will be briefly presented, providing an opportunity for those who were unable to attend the congress to get informed promptly on the latest advances in treating neoplasms.

In parallel , within this rapidly evolving therapeutic environment, important scientific questions continue to arise and which have not been fully addressed by clinical trials or international guidelines yet. The perpetual scientific dialogue among experts from different disciplines can contribute substantially to the adoption of best practices in patient care.

On Saturday, November 7^th, 2026, the conference will conclude with a special session on the topic: "Advancing comprehensive cancer treatment: The pathway for patients with gynecologic malignancies." Representatives of the Political Leadership of the Ministry of Health, the Governor of the 1^st Regional Health Authority (YPE), the Governor of Alexandra – Elena Venizelou Hospital, as well as the President of the Hellenic Cancer Federation will participate at the session.

The ultimate aim of this conference is to create different perspectives and establish practical conclusions that will support clinicians in their daily practice.
