Acknowledging a mother’s priceless offer towards her child and at the same time the indefeasible right of a newborn to breastfeeding – which is the optimal way for exclusive feeding for the first six months of the infant’s life – we, at IASO, put significant efforts in the awareness, consciousness, education and promotion of breastfeeding and try to apply the Ten Steps to its Success.
Namely, we:
World Health Organization (WHO) and UNICEF, acknowledging the value of Breastfeeding, established the Initiative “Baby-friendly Hospitals”, by setting the Ten Steps to a Successful Breastfeeding.

Prompted by the 1st successful childbirth following uterus transplantation by Professor Mats Brännström’s medical team at the University of Gothenburg in Sweden, the Hellenic Society οf Reproductive Medicine (HSRM), in cooperation with IASO General Maternity and Gynecology Clinic, successfully organized today, Friday 3 July 2015 at 12.30 pm at IASO Clinic, a scientific lecture titled “The 1st successful childbirth following uterus transplantation”. The speech was delivered by Dr. Mats Brännström, Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Gothenburg in Sweden.
In September 2014, and for the first time in the history of Medicine, a 36-year-old Swedish woman gave birth to a healthy baby following uterus transplantation. According to the researchers, eleven uterus transplantation attempts have been performed worldwide, but this is the first live birth reported. Both the mother and the child enjoy good health and give the hope of childbirth to all women without uterus or with functional uterine abnormalities.
As Professor Mats Brännström stated “This case offers hope to all the women around the world who suffer from sub-fertility which is exclusively caused by the lack of uterus”.
The participation to the lecture was free of charge and the official language was English. Discussion and light meal followed.
The speech was delivered at IASO Clinic’s Events Hall, 37-39 Kifissias Avenue, Maroussi
