PAP TEST
Pap test is a cytological test bearing the name of a distinguished Greek scientist, George Papanicolaou, the first to implement and establish this test, and is based on the observation that our body constantly sheds cells and replaces them with others. These cells, normally removed from the body, are very easily and painlessly collected and, following laboratory processing, show exactly the health state or the pathology of cells.
Although, however, there might be no exfoliated cells during taking, we may use a special brush in order to remove material and even from particular sites of the cervix that we want to examine. The material removed with this special brush is smeared onto a slide in order for it to be examined by a Cytologist.
